Coronavirus and Pool Water

With so many questions about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it is transmitted, many homeowners have told me they are concerned about the risk of the virus surviving in their swimming pool water.

Every concern during such a health crisis is completely understandable because we all want to do our part to help contain the pandemic’s impact on our health and lives.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), there is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. To read about the CDC’s findings on the Coronavirus and water, please visit this CDC website link that covers that topic.

The site does emphasize the importance of maintaining your swimming pool during the Coronavirus outbreak. It says, “Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”

The State of California has also allowed swimming pool service and maintenance businesses like Aqueous Pools Inc. to continue servicing swimming pools and spas at homes and businesses to help ensure this proper disinfection and cleaning. Please contact us if you have any further concerns.
