So you want to build a swimming pool? Makes sense since all the summers here in the Antelope Valley are hot and can be quite long. Not everyone likes the beach and not everyone gets to live near it either. A swimming pool can be a great escape in your very own backyard.

However, when building a swimming pool, you may find yourself with many questions and half a dozen quotes, so how do you go about choosing a contractor and what are some things to look for?

Keep reading because Aqueous Pools is about to give you the lowdown.

A Contractor and His License

First things first, never work with an unlicensed contractor. If they can’t get, don’t have, or have lost their license, there is probably a pretty good reason as to why, so steer clear of unlicensed contractors. Of course, even licensed individuals and or companies could still very well be more interested in lining their pockets than helping you get the swimming pool of your dreams.

When getting quotes, be sure to never just get them over the phone or via email. Either visit their place of business or have them come to you. Remember that most companies will do free quotes and consultations.

They want your business, so if they don’t mention offering them, ask. Treat buying a swimming pool like a car; there are plenty of businesses out there that do pool installations so you can afford to be picky. Never let a contractor rush you into signing a contract on you either. Review it and if you don’t understand something, be sure to ask questions.

Speaking of questions, ask plenty and do your own research as the best customer is an informed one. This means going on the California State Contractor’s board website and check to see if there have been any complaints about that contractor.

All of the information related to his license is public data, so feel free to check up on your guy. Also, ask for references and interview others about their experience with that swimming pool contractor.

Buying a pool is a big deal. Often, it is considered to be one of the biggest monetary decisions you will ever make. Think of it as an investment and don’t rush anything. You want a pool that fits your lifestyle perfectly and is not something you will regret later. At Aqueous Pools, we know pools so please feel free to contact us anytime with any questions.
